I participated for the very first time in Angel Food Ministries program for JUNE it wasn't that I wasn't interested in participating , it just never was offered close to my home. It is only in limited areas of the country. I have "watched" it grow over the years
and much to my delight it is now being offered in AMELIA which is a neighboring county to my hometown of Powhatan. I happen to have a close friend in Amelia and I decided that participating in AFM would be a good excuse to visit with her 1x a month if she were interested. When I called her she said, I was just getting ready to call you and tell you about this program that started 2 blocks away from my house, and wanted to know IF I WAS INTERESTED! tooo funny, exactly the reason I had called. We did it! We each got a UNIT and no extras for the first month to "try it out." This past Saturday was the pick up day and I had every intention of bringing my camera, but I accidentally left it at home............ so there are no pics, next time will SHOW you the goods, sorry guys! :(

MY 2 CENTS........... on the JUNE BOX
The box of food was "worth it" meaning the Retail Value of the food was OVER the $30 that we paid for it. (Without coupons and rebate use) I have NOT gone item by item and compared in store cost to Angel Food Cost but I am sure someone has :)
Almost all of the items are "commercially" wrapped and not "named brand." The box of hamburgers were "off brand" and my GF thought they may have even been "soy" burgers, they are NOT when checking the ingredients it listed BEEF, SPICES, WATER
The Pork Riblets were unidentifiable as such as the wording was erased from the label. They were very Fatty, and to me usable only as a SOUP or BEAN ingredient, not something I would want to eat alone.
The "Dessert Item" wasn't what I imagined (pie, cake etc) but rather a large bag of Teddy Grahams, off brand.
I have a side by side refrigerator and frozen pizzas just don't fit, so I cooked mine right away. This I have to tell you was a "supreme" pizza and very tasty! I was SHOCKED , I usually am not a frozen pizza fan but this was very good and had a thin crust (not the mostly bread pizza) but rather a good combination of toppings, cheese and sauce!
The veggies were all FROZEN no fresh veggies to be had.
The French Fries were substituted with TATOR TOTS a large bag.
DOZEN eggs were MEDIUM in size
I was happy as I did get my monies worth PLUS SOME but I think the JULY box sounds better!
We took Boxes to the Pick Up but we were the last ones to arrive, they were waiting on us, and they had already boxed it up ready to go....... they graciously did take our empty boxes for their own supply. Everyone was VERY NICE and it was an EASY transaction.
I think the JULY box sounds even better than JUNE and I did order an "extra" special for $16 more you get
