I am not a huge "milk fan" I don't enjoy sitting down and drinking a glass of milk and dunking something in milk is even less appealing.............but I like CEREAL & MILK and I also cook with milk. I also like making MALTS for my family. (see recipe below)
When I was selected as a BZZ AGENT to test out HORIZON ORGANIC MILK (love to give my family organic products) I agreed!
TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HORIZON MILK AND GET A COUPON GO HERE
As everyone knows the price of groceries is rising along with the gas price hikes. Organic foods have always cost more than "regular" foods, but now the prices are closer than ever. Milk Coupons are SCARCE for regular milk, but you can get coupons for HORIZON ORGANIC milk making the price difference very little.
Now, the real test, the FAMILY! My family thinks if something is HEALTHY it usually doesn't taste good. When the Horizons Milk showed up in the fridge, my youngest daughter said "where is the milk?" Not recognizing the carton as what she is used to seeing (the familiar milky colored gallon jug). When I pointed to the red carton and said there it is, her reply was COOL, until she saw the ORGANIC on the label. The next reply was is this that "good for you stuff?" Her friend was over spending the night and her friend said lets get some cereal. THEY LOVED IT, and said this is pretty good!!!! The first thing the friend said to her mom when she picked her up was "can we get some milk like they have?" this gave me the opportunity to tell her about the BZZ PROGRAM and the MILK!
One of the first things that I noticed in the store when picking up the milk was the expiration date. I always look for a long term expiration. The milk didn't expire for an entire month, which means for me............ I won't be throwing out wasted milk! WOOOO HOOOOOOOOO
almost every container of milk that I buy has a bit of milk that gets thrown down the drain due to the expiration date. Even if milk isn't bad, if it reaches the printed date, my family takes ZERO CHANCES of ingesting any sour milk! :(
I was right, not only did my family LOVE the milk there was NO WASTE! The container was completely emptied and thrown in the trash can rather than down the sink.
I made malts with the milk and they were delicious! Creamy and fresh tasting and knowing that the milk was better for you even seemed to make the milk taste better!
I bought my milk at food lion for $3.99 1/2 gallon.
Food Lion isn't known for carrying a broad line of organic foods but they had this product so was EASY TO FIND, GOOD FOR YOU, NO WASTE & GREAT TASTE TOO!
I didn't sit down and drink a glass of milk , but I did have a malt and a bowl of cereal with it and it tastes ALMOST good enough to take an actual SIP! :)
